Even though this equipment is most often found in a specialist office, we have incorporated this equipment into our practice to make your visit more enjoyable and to optimize your oral health.
What is EMS airflow?
EMS AIRFLOW® is a device from Switzerland that was made to efficiently and comfortably remove food particles, plaque and stain by projecting a controlled stream of sweet erythritol powder in air and warm water. It has been shown to be very effective in cleaning teeth and implants. It is important to have effective cleaning methods to reduce chances of cavities around teeth and gum inflammation around teeth and implants. Gum inflammation can lead to bone loss, which could lead to the loss of teeth/implants.
The AIRFLOW® system also heats the water to 40 degrees Celsius. This has proven to assist with making the cleaning appointment more comfortable for patients with sensitive teeth. If you still have sensitive teeth, we have invested in other solutions which we can apply topically during your cleaning. Please ask your hygienist if this interests you. AIRFLOW® has also been shown to remove external stains very effectively as well. Patients have been very pleased with the results. We pride ourselves in doing whatever is possible to improve your experience.
The use of AIRFLOW® prior to the ultrasonic scaler minimizes the amount of time required to clean your teeth. This makes the process quicker and more comfortable.
